FULL-TIME & PART-TIME TEACHERS
The Turkish American Association is looking for qualified full-time and part-time English Teachers to employ for the 2016/2017 academic year (employment will start as of June). The applications of candidates who fail to meet the criteria given below will not be considered for employment.
|•||4-year university degree in English Language Teaching, English/American Literature, Linguistics, English Translation|
|•||Understanding of communicative language teaching|
|•||Experience in teaching Adults (General English and/or Exam Preparation Courses) and/or Young Learners|
|•||Fluent spoken skills|

(Native Teachers of English are required to present certification on TESOL, TEFL, CELTA or DELTA and demonstrate suitability for a work permit)
The Turkish-American Association follows a strict procedure for employment opportunities and it is very important that all applicants follow and understand the following procedures in order for their applications to be accepted and evaluated.
TAA HIRING PROCEDURES
1. FILING THE APPLICATION
Each applicant is required to complete the TAA Application Form below.
2. INITIAL INTERVIEW FOR SUITABILITY
Upon the evaluation of the resume, each teacher will be invited in for an interview where the rules and regulations as well as the benefits are discussed with the applicants. The applicants will be screened for suitability in terms of TAA standards and national laws and regulations. When attending the interview, applicants must present copies of their diplomas, certificates and related documents.
3. ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST
Applicants who have found to be suitable for employment in terms of TAA standards and national regulations are required to take the TAA Teacher Proficiency Test. The test which takes about 90 minutes assesses linguistic and methodological competence. Applicants can also provide a TOEFL score of at least 90.
4. ACADEMIC INTERVIEW
Applicants who have demonstrated to be competent in the TAA Teacher Proficiency Test will be invited for a final interview to be conducted by the TAA Academic Coordinator. This interview is based on assessing and evaluating the personal traits as well as the methodological competence of the applicant.
Applicants who are approved by the TAA Academic Coordinator will be invited for observations. In accordance with the TAA Procedures, each applicant teacher approved by the Academic Coordinator is required to attend and observe between 12 (experienced teachers) and 20 (inexperienced teachers) hours of course sessions to see the TAA language teaching standards and methods.
6. DEMO SESSION
Applicants who have completed the observations are required to conduct a demo session based on the observations conducted. This demo session will be observed by the TAA Academic Coordinator.
The Turkish-American Association strictly conforms to the related laws and regulations. TAA will register each teacher with the Minister of Education as well as the Ministry of Labor. The following documents are required for the legal paperwork;

8. ORIENTATION & TRAINING
Although TAA is hiring for the 2016/2017 academic year which will commence on September 2016, the employment will commence as of June 2016. Each teacher employed with TAA will attend orientation sessions as well as the TAA Pre-Service Training Program.
